The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Nick Grace Royal Marines and the combined choirs of The University Chamber Choir, The Otter Consort and the Chichester Chorale under Musical Director Arthur Robson will perform Eternal Voices in Chichester Cathedral on Saturday 20 October 2012.  The programme of music includes music from the Armed Man, ‘Mars’ from the Planets, Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan and Sir Hubert Parry’s ‘ I Was Glad’ and the world famous Royal Marines Corps of Drums.

The second half of the concert begins with the title piece Eternal Voices for wind band and choir.  ‘Eternal Voices’ was commissioned by the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) some 3 years ago.  Written by Adam Gorb and words by Ben Kaye, this is a large scale work and commemorates the sacrifices made by Royal Marines and their families in modern conflict.  Based around the war in Afghanistan, it is a five movement work that is interspersed by integral news headlines.

This is only the third occasion Eternal Voices has been performed.  The world première took place in Exeter Cathedral on 20 November 2010 with a second performance in Coventry Cathedral on 15 October 2011.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
